Founded in 2014 as part of Cross River’s global expansion, the Israel office has grown steadily ever since. Today, Cross River employs around 1,000 people worldwide, including over 170 team members in our R&D center in Har Hotzvim, Jerusalem — and we’re still growing. In the coming years, we plan to expand our operations in Israel and significantly grow the local team.
Cross River develops cutting-edge technology infrastructure for real-time financial solutions — including payments, credit cards, and loans. Our platforms support millions of consumers, small businesses, and companies around the globe.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we played a crucial role in helping save nearly 480,000 small businesses across the U.S. by enabling over $13 billion in PPP loans — second only to Bank of America.
The Israeli R&D center built an innovative digital platform that connected applicants directly to the U.S. federal system, enabling lightning-fast loan approvals within minutes.
Together with some of the world’s top fintech companies, we provide secure, efficient, and reliable financial solutions at scale.

Our Jerusalem offices in Har Hotzvim are on the 25th floor with panoramic city views. You’ll find state-of-the-art meeting rooms, quiet zones, a games corner, fully stocked kitchens (because 4:00 PM without something sweet? Not on our watch), and a dedicated yoga & Pilates room. We work in a flexible hybrid model – three days in the office and two from home – to support true work–life balance. We also invest in your personal and professional growth with trainings, leadership programs, courses, and company-wide access to Linkedin Learning.
These are the people who make everything better — and more beautiful.

Doing good is part of who we are. For us, success isn’t just about technology – it’s about social responsibility. We focus our efforts on four main areas:
• Promoting financial literacy
• Donating medical equipment and building ER ambulance bays
• Providing scholarships for higher education
• Encouraging our team to volunteer — with extra days off for those who do
We also match employee donations (up to ₪1,800 per year) and organize company-wide and team-based volunteering days.
Cross River is backed by some of the world’s most respected investors, including Eldridge and Andreessen Horowitz. In 2022, we raised a $620 million Series D round, reaching a valuation of around $3.5 billion.

What drives Batsheva at Cross River? The rush that comes from solving a production issue under pressure.
“A big part of my role is planning system architecture, managing my task board, and writing actual code – but sometimes I also dive into investigating bugs when a new version is released,” she explains.
Her current day-to-day is pretty close to what she once imagined for herself as a kid – which is what led her to study computer science in the first place. After graduating, she joined Cross River as a developer, and she’s now been with the company for nearly six years.
Her role also includes strategic thinking and feature planning. Whether it’s early-stage design or deep debugging, she sticks to the same guiding principles:
“I stay focused on finding solutions that serve all the goals. I love seeing everything I’ve developed come together – and there’s something really satisfying about getting it all to work as one.”
That consistency and hard work paid off recently with a promotion to Senior Engineer – a natural next step in her journey.
As someone who’s already walked the path of professional growth, she has a few tips for junior developers:
“Try to learn from everyone around you. In the beginning, I listened carefully to everything I was taught – and if I didn’t understand something, I went and researched it on my own. That’s how I moved forward. I also made a point never to say ‘no’ to a challenge. I said ‘yes’ first – and figured out how to solve it later.”
Our DNA Is Helping Others – and You Can Feel It Here
“In my six years at the company, I’ve gotten so much support. Appreciation is real here,” Batsheva says.
“I constantly receive feedback on my work, and even when things get busy, it’s worth it – I can feel the impact I’m making.”
She also highlights the company’s flexibility, which allows employees to work from different locations and at different hours:
“As a mother of young kids – and just as a person – that flexibility helps me create balance.”
When it comes to what makes her workplace great, she’s quick to mention her team:
“We all share the same goals, which really matters. We’re a great team – and it’s genuinely fun to work together.”
Batsheva also appreciates the company’s commitment to giving back.
“Helping others is part of Cross River’s DNA.” Personally, I’ve volunteered with them in the Jerusalem Marathon to support Kav LaNoar,” she shares.
Looking ahead, her goal is simple and powerful:
“I want to keep learning and growing – both professionally and personally.”
“One of the things I enjoy most about my role is having broad responsibility across so many different areas,” says Yoni, who has been managing Cross River Israel since September 2022. And this is no small role – the company has over 180 employees and dozens of teams. “My professional and managerial challenges are very diverse. But what they all have in common is the need to manage time well and know how to separate what’s truly important from what’s not.”
Long before managing a company of this scale – and before founding a software company that was sold in 2016 – Yoni studied physics at the Hebrew University.
“As a kid, I dreamed of being an engineer. As I got older, I planned to follow in my father’s footsteps and become a patent attorney. I worked in intellectual property for a few years, but eventually realized it wasn’t exciting enough for me. That’s when I decided to take a year-long course in software development,” he shares.
So how did all those steps lead to his current role? Naturally – it all started with a junior position. From there, he moved on to another, then led a development team, and eventually launched and ran his own company.
According to Yoni, Cross River’s strengths come from a mix of high-tech innovation and a genuinely supportive work environment:
“We’re building leading-edge products here and have created a workplace with amazing conditions. Our commitment to excellence is also reflected in the personal, thoughtful approach of our HR and operations teams.”
Beyond the professional aspects and the strong focus on employee wellbeing, Yoni’s connection to the company’s mission is deeply personal:
“I chose this company because it’s based in Jerusalem – and because giving back to the community is truly at its core.”
Looking ahead, his focus is on growth:
“My vision is to expand the company to about 500 employees, once we receive approval to recruit for additional roles in Israel beyond software development.”
It’s morning in the office. People start gathering around the kitchen with a coffee, tea, or snack in hand, chatting about last night’s Netflix binge – a familiar scene.
What comes next, though – that moment when each team runs through their daily tasks while still swapping the occasional personal update – that’s one of Shahar’s favorite parts of the day.
“That morning meeting really sets the tone,” he says.
Before finding his path in data, Shahar worked with reports and analytics – but not as a developer. He holds a BA in Sociology and Political Science from Tel Aviv University, and after graduating, worked in the credit industry.
“Over time, I began using a reporting system and discovered an entirely new and fascinating knowledge space. I realized I was more drawn to building the underlying infrastructure than to using it – and that is what led me to data development.”
When he got the chance to make a career shift, Shahar chose to leave a management role and start building data systems from the ground up. A decade later, he joined Cross River, where he’s been working for over two years.
“Today, I lead a team of three developers and two Full Stack developers from the ultra-Orthodox sector, in collaboration with the Kama-Tech program.” The team’s diversity lets me support people at different levels in their data careers,” he explains.
When it comes to the most essential skill in data work? Shahar doesn’t hesitate:
“Knowing how to Google well. You need to be able to teach yourself, find the right info, and turn it into value. When I hire, that’s one of the key things I look for.”
Quote:
“There’s great management here and a real respect for family life.”
On Company Culture — From His Perspective
Remember that light morning chat we opened with? That, says Shahar, perfectly reflects the atmosphere at Cross River. “I’ve referred five people to the company in the two years I’ve been here. There’s great management, and the support for family life is incredible,” he says, adding that the company goes out of its way to help employees however it can.
Another benefit he highlights is the access to real innovation:
“There’s a genuine, high-quality creation process here that benefits both customers and employees.”
As for what’s next? Shahar hopes that in the coming years, Cross River will also become recognized as a full-service bank within the Israeli market.
